Setting Up Your Organization — A Checklist

The order to set KamoUniverse up in. Not every step applies to every business, but the sequence does: several of these block the ones after them, and discovering that halfway through is what turns an afternoon into a week.

1. Your identity

• Company profile and branding — name, logo, colors. These appear on everything a customer sees. How to Update Your Company Profile and Branding

2. Your words

• Custom Labels — if you call branches "offices" and customers "clients", say so now. Changing it later means every person you've trained has learned the wrong words. How to Rename Branches, Members and Team Members

3. Your structure

• Departments and job titles — the shape people slot into

4. Your people

5. The features you'll use

Then set up the ones you turned on:

• Email — connect a provider, then verify your sending domain. Domain verification involves DNS changes and can take a day, so start it early. How to Connect an Email Provider

6. The things that pay off later

The two mistakes people make

Turning everything on to see what it does. You end up with fifteen menu items nobody uses and no way to tell which ones matter. Turn on what you need, add later.

Leaving roles until the end. Roles decide what everybody sees, so setting them up after everyone has joined means a round of "I can't find it" that you then have to answer one person at a time.
