How to Export IoT Records
Download IoT records as a CSV file for your own reports or for an audit.
Before you start
- You need the Export IoT Data right.
- Without View IoT Activity, activity and command exports include only the devices and controls you can see.
- SI members cannot export share uses.
Export
- Go to Settings → Devices (IoT) → Data And Exports.
- Under Exports, choose what to download: Activity, Command audit or Share uses.
- Choose the From and To dates. The period can be at most 31 days, and cannot start in the future. The dates start at the last seven days.
- Choose Download CSV.
You can also export from two other places:
- The Activity tab, with Export. The dates start at the page's From and To, or at the last seven days. The file holds every kind of activity in that period; the page's other filters do not apply.
- The Shared tab, with Export uses on Shared by us. This tab needs Manage IoT Sharing too.
Result
The CSV file downloads to your computer.
What is in a file
Each file has a header row. Times are in UTC. Kinds and statuses are written as codes, for example STATE_CHANGED or SUCCEEDED, not as the words on screen.
- Activity: each row's kind and time, the device, its site and space, the control and its value, who acted, and any linked command, detail code or note.
- Command audit: each command with its time, device, control, safety class, who sent it, its latest status, the value and unit, whether a confirmation was given, the age of the password confirmation, the command it retried, any second-person approval and who gave it, and the source address.
- Share uses: each use of a share with its time, share, kind, outcome, device, control, command, recipient, session, source address and browser.
If it doesn't work
- "Choose at most 31 days.": shorten the period.
- "The end date must be after the start date.": swap the dates.
- "Choose dates that aren't in the future.": move the start date back.
- There is no Export button: your role lacks Export IoT Data.
Good to know
- A file holds at most 100,000 rows. For a busy organization, export shorter periods.
- Records older than their retention period are gone. Activity follows the number of days your organization keeps. Commands, alarms and share uses are kept for 400 days.
