How to Start a Chat with a Teammate
Open a 1:1 chat window with a teammate.
Before you start
Your organization has Chat enabled, and you hold the Access Chat right. If you don't, the Chat control doesn't appear in your top navigation bar at all.
Steps
- In the top navigation bar, click Chat (the pill next to the notification bell — hover it to confirm the tooltip "Messages and chat").
- The Interaction Center slides out from the right, open to the Members tab (the Directory) — everyone in your organization, grouped by department.
- Optionally use the search box (by name or extension) or the All / Online / Offline filter to find the person.
- Click anywhere on their row (not one of the small action icons that appear on hover).
What you'll see
A chat window opens, floating near the bottom of the screen. If you've never messaged this person before, KamoUniverse creates the conversation the first time you send something; if you have, the window opens on your existing history. The window's title bar shows their name, and their photo or initials.
Alternative ways to start the same chat
- Hover their Directory row and click the chat-bubble icon that appears on the right — same result as clicking the row.
- From their profile page (Settings → Member) or their contact card elsewhere in the app, use the Chat action if present.
- From the Interaction Center's Chats tab, click an existing conversation to reopen it.
