Which Devices and Services You Can Connect

IoT Devices connects to the accounts and services your organization already has. It does not sell or install devices. The list of services is always the live one: a service appears only while it is switched on for organizations, so the list never offers a service you cannot link.

Where the live list is

Go to Settings → Devices (IoT) → Connections and choose Add connection. Add a connection lists the services your organization can link today, grouped by kind, with a search box and a Sign-in filter. You need the Manage IoT Connections right.

The platform also publishes a public device-compatibility page built from the same list.

The kinds of service

  • Smart home: hubs and device clouds for lights, plugs, thermostats, sensors and speakers.
  • Access control: smart locks and access systems.
  • Energy: solar production, batteries and EV chargers.
  • Vehicles: fleet vehicles and fleet sensors.
  • Voice: a voice assistant that can control the devices you choose to expose to it.
  • Health: home health devices for remote patient monitoring, offered only to practices that handle protected health information. They are enrolled per patient, not linked here. See Health Devices for Practices.

How a service connects

  • With your own credentials. You paste a key or token from the vendor's own settings. The article for that vendor says where to find it.
  • By signing in. You sign in at the vendor, approve access and come straight back. Home Assistant works the same way, with a sign-in to your own instance.
  • Through the vendor's own link screen. A few services link through a page the vendor provides.
  • From the phone. Apple Home and Google Home can be linked only from KamoMobile on a signed-in phone. See How to Link Google Home or Apple Home from Your Phone.
  • Through the voice assistant. You enable the skill in the voice assistant's own app. See How to Connect Amazon Alexa.

What each service says about itself

In Add a connection, each service shows what it supports: Finds devices, Control, Live events, History and Live video. Below that it lists what it cannot do, in plain words, for example that a vendor keeps no history. After you link it, the connection's card says how updates arrive, for example Checked on a schedule when the vendor sends no live updates.

Good to know

  • Many services must first be set up by the platform. Until then your organization does not see them. A service marked Platform organization only is still being set up and is not yet offered to other organizations.
  • Availability follows each vendor's approvals and can change.
  • Product names belong to their owners. Their use here does not mean they endorse the platform.
  • An organization that handles protected health information sees only the services that can hold health information.
