How to Create a Market
Create a market — a part of your business with its own name, description and page under Markets. If the idea is new, read Markets and Lines of Business Explained first.
Before You Start
You need the Manage Subscription Settings permission. Only the Lines of Business your organization's plan allows can be picked; any others show which app they need.
Steps
- Open Settings, then Lines of Business, then Markets & Fields.
- Click Create New Market.
- Fill in the form:
- Title — your own name for this market, like "Equipment Rental" or "Home Services". Everyone sees it in the Markets menu.
- Line of Business — the kind of market this is. Each choice says what it gives the market: Retail for selling products, Rental for renting out equipment or spaces, Service for doing jobs for customers, Subscription for plans that renew, Procurement for buying from your vendors, Mortgage for home loans, Personal Loans for lending to people, and Healthcare for caring for patients.
- Description — a short line shown under the name in the Markets menu, so your team knows what the market is for. For example: "Tents, tables and party equipment for events."
- Save.
Your organization can have only one Mortgage market, so that choice is switched off once you have one. Every other Line of Business can be used as many times as you like — two Retail markets for two different stores is fine.
What You'll See
The new market appears on the Markets & Fields list, and in the Markets menu for everyone who can use Markets. If it is your organization's only market, the menu item takes on the market's own name.
To Reorder, Archive or Restore
Back on Markets & Fields, use Reorder to drag markets into the order you want them to appear on the Markets page. To retire a market, click its archive button; it moves to the Archived tab and disappears from the Markets page until you restore it. Markets are never deleted.
